Clayton Huston

Since he was a child, Clay Hutson has had a passion for all things music. He poses as a triple threat; a sound engineer, stage manager, and tour producer.

 

Clay earned his bachelor’s degree in theater design from Central Michigan University. He went on to earn his master’s in business administration from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Clay had several positions involving live companies and entertainment post-graduation. Clay dabbled in corporate entertainment but eventually chose to focus on the music industry.

 

Clay’s experience and love for all things music-particularly rock and roll-gained him experience in sound engineering, live performances, and management. Eventually, Clay combined all of these experiences, talents, and passion and started his own business.

 

Through his work endeavors, Clay has traveled the world and worked with a variety of big names. He saw lots of Europe with the band “Garbage”. He operated One Republic’s rigging system while they toured.

 

Clay makes money by providing engineering, live production and rigging service to his clients. He provides stage and logistics management as well. These projects have let him to work with a wide range of artists including P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, and Kid Rock.

 

Starting the business was not easy. In fact, according to Clay, it was a big leap of faith. He started a business during the recession, which presented a plethora of challenges. In his early days, a legal battle with a company involving one of his clients set him back over $150,000.00 However, despite the challenges he was faced with, Clay continued to work hard and eventually overcame all of his obstacles.

 

Clay didn’t only rely on hard work. There was a method to his madness. One of his biggest business strategies was referrals; by establishing positive experiences and relationships with his clients they often referred him to other clients and his business continued to expand and grow.

 

In the end, Clay credits his passion for buisness and hard work for his success. He puts forth 110% of his effort into every project he takes on and pours his passion for music into his work. He makes sure to consistently check and recheck his work, making sure that every performance goes off perfectly.

 

What’s next for Clay? As he continues to work hard and grow his business, he is still consistently searching for new opportunities.
